A meal served in secret, hidden from God, confronts the brutality behind the French ortolan delicacy. The songbird is captured, force-fed, drowned in Armagnac, roasted, and eaten whole beneath a napkin, a ritual of indulgence and shame, banned in France since 1999 but still pursued illegally. A baroque pearl on a silver plate stands in for the bird, served alone, precious and coveted. A candle becomes a memorial flame for lives taken for a single bite. A wine glass, filled red, points to tradition, luxury, and complicity, and to the blood behind the ritual. A removable cloche, wearable as a pendant, conceals and reveals, its red interior echoing both spilt blood and the mouth that consumes. Together, these elements form a set table worn as a ring, asking whether the wearer will cover the truth or face it in plain sight.
